Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2015 Gio Vest With Bullion Embroidery

Below: In love with this Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2015 Gio Vest... all that rich bullion embroidery and the ability to create 'warm-weather friendly' layered looks get my vote for investment piece of the season! Love how stylist Declan Chan looked with the vest during the recent Milan Mens Fashion Week... (Streetstyle image from JPMV)

Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2015 Gio Vest with Bullion Embroidery

Spring Summer 2015 menswear has offered us boys a diverse range of looks that spoils us with choices for the new season. From sports theme tailored ensembles to skinny rock star boys... the possibilities are only limited to one’s imagination.

For me, I am looking for a standout piece that is different and unique, something easy to pull off and not scream ‘trying too hard’. Of course, warm-weather friendly is a must too. Sounds like a tall order? Perhaps... But not after browsing thru Dries Van Noten’s highly admirable collection for SS2015. I just found my ‘investment’ piece of the season.

If you observe the designer’s collection, there is one key piece that recurred in many looks, used more like an accessory rather than clothing. I am talking about the SS2015 Dries Van Noten’s Bullion Embroidered ‘Gio Vest’!

Interesting concept of a harness meets vest, this one shoulder strap-on blends ‘couture-ish’ details with fetish-like body straps (’Fetish flourish’ as Tim Blanks from Style.comreviewed). The Gio Vest may be a simple add on, but when worn, it creates that layered look we all so yearned during cold winter but can't over hot summer. The light weight piece eliminates need for excessive bulk and layers while the embroidered bullion details evoke richness and baroque charm... all at the same time maintaining a cool street edge. A useful piece that can work with existing wardrobe without needing to invest in a whole tonne of new pieces.

Just look at stylist Declan Chan (a streetstyle photographer’s favourite) during the recent Milan Mens Fashion Week... he wore the Gio Vest over a simple all-black look. The Gio Vest breaks the monotony and layers up perfectly over his blazer and T-shirt. Edgy layering effect that I love but sans the heavy bulk. (Milan Vukmirovic another of my style idol, wore a sporty bomber jacket with a similar attached harness for a fresh mix of couture chic and street appeal. But I prefer the vest as a separate.)

The Gio vest is versatile enough that it also works with simple t-shirts, shirts or over blazers and coats. Imagine all the mileage you can get from this one outstanding piece. Best of all, Dries Van Noten can never go wrong!
Convinced you need this? If your answer is YES:-P Head over to www.club21global.com which stocks the vest for USD992 or www.thecorner.com which retails for £570.

Below: Milan Vukmirovic spotted in Paris with a similar look, in a bias zip closure bomber jacket with attached harness piece. Super chic!
